"JAZZ KIDZ"
In conjunction With CPAC *MVP-PROGRAM
CPAC "JAZZ KIDZ" ARE MIDDLE SCHOOL THRU 9TH GRADE STUDENTS WHO DESIRE TO LEARN MORE ABOUT JAZZ, JAZZ CONCEPTS, JAZZ HISTORY, AND PERFORMING JAZZ. THE IDEA IS TO KEEP JAZZ ALIVE THROUGH OUR YOUTH. SO GET YOUR YOUNG MUSICIAN AND GET THEM OVER TO A CPAC "JAZZ KIDZ" SESSION.
CPAC "JAZZ KIDZ" SESSIONS:
The Sessions meet twice a week for total of 5 hours.
Topics of study will be: Jazz History, Jazz Music Listening, The instruments of Jazz Music, Jazz Theory & Rhythms, Jazz Styles, and Applied Jazz Music via jazz jam sessions.
Tuesdays 6:00 - 8:00 PM & Saturdays 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM
The instruments for instruction in the Combos are:
Percussion, Piano keyboard, Bass Guitar, Lead Guitar, Flute, Saxophone, Clarinet, Trumpet, Trombone.
The scholarship administration fee is $25. All other supporting funds will be raised via live jazz productions sponsored by the "Jazz Kids" program. Parents and students support our program fundraisers. There is also a certain level of commitment that is required of each student.
Each combo unit will have 12 - 15 musicians/performing artists and membership is on a first come basis. Please get your young musician registered.
INSTRUCTORS:
The instructors for the sessions will be CPAC music staff, local school band directors, local college professors, and professional jazz musicians.
We will be looking for support from local businesses, organizations, corporate sponsors, etc. to support our youth.
